My name is Champ, and I am an adult male German Shepherd between the ages of 3 and 5 years old. I have been through a lot in my short life. I was found abandoned in an empty house. I can’t even begin to tell you how terrible my life was at that time. When my rescuers found me, I was malnourished, my mouth was full of abscesses, and I had heartworms.
Since my rescue, I have put on weight and I look really good if I do say so myself. I am a happy, sweet boy. Although I am a big boy, I am nothing more than a big teddy bear, gentle and well-mannered. I love my daily walks and all the hugs and kisses I get from the volunteers who spend time with me.
I dream of the day when I will have a home of my very own, but I need to undergo heartworm treatment. I also need to be neutered and have two teeth extracted, but the vet prefers to wait until after the heartworm treatment. I am currently living in a boarding facility because no foster homes are available. The boarding facility is too stimulating because I get excited when I see other dogs. For that reason, the vet would like for me to be in a quiet home while I go thru treatment. If someone would be willing to foster me temporarily for 90 days while I go thru treatment, my chance of being adopted will be much greater. Or, if someone would be willing to adopt me even though I have heartworms, that would be even better. All medical costs, as well as monthly grooming, will be covered by the ACT program. All I need is a home. Is there a place in your heart and home for me?

Submitter’s note: Champ is every bit the gentleman he looks, is great on leash, and will sit on command. He`s very bright and incredibly friendly. He needs a local foster home, but anyone in the south Georgia/north Florida area who is interested is welcome to apply (I was told within two hours drive of Valdosta, GA would be totally acceptable). Tomorrow I’m going to meet up with Champ to walk him, so I`ll get more pictures and hopefully a video. Thank you!
